Your way to a surf holiday: Three routes to A-Frame

Whether you’re driving across Europe, flying and arranging a private transfer or flying and renting a car for ultimate flexibility, there’s an option to suit every style.

This guide breaks down your three best options for reaching A-Frame. We also explain why a surf holiday is the perfect way to mix adventure, relaxation and time in nature!

Option 1: Drive all the way to El Palmar

Some guests choose to drive from Germany, Switzerland or Austria as part of a larger European road trip. This option is ideal for anyone who enjoys flexibility, wants to bring surf equipment or plans to visit and surf multiple spots along the way.

  • Best route: Follow Spain’s east coast (stopping in Barcelona or Valencia), then cut across to Andalucia and down to El Palmar

  • Distance: From Frankfurt around 2,400 km (approx. 24 hours driving). From Zürich or Vienna its 2,100 and 2,900 km respectively

  • Tip: Break up the journey with overnight stops in scenic cities like Lyon, Marseille or Barcelona

Driving lets you enjoy Spain at your own pace while avoiding airports and transfers altogether. However, it’s definitely the most time consuming and costly option when you consider accommodation (unless you’re in a campervan), fuel and tolls.

Option 2: Fly and book a private transfer

For the simplest, door-to-door experience, fly into a nearby airport and take a private transfer straight to El Palmar!

This is one of the most popular options for both new and repeat guests.

Nearest airports

  • Jerez de la Frontera (XRY): Approx. 1 hour transfer

  • Seville (SVQ): Approx. 1.5 hours transfer

  • Málaga (AGP): Approx. 2.5 hours transfer

Typical flight prices if booked early

  • Germany (Frankfurt → Seville): €70–150 with Ryanair or €120–180 with Lufthansa

  • Switzerland (Zürich → Málaga): €120–150 with easyJet or €140–200 with Swiss/Edelweiss

  • Austria (Vienna → Seville): €100–140 with Ryanair or €150–200 with Austrian Airlines

Booking 1–2 months ahead usually secures fares under €150. Mid-week flights are often cheaper. And with our flexible arrival promotion, you can time your stay around the best-priced flights!

Private transfer rates

  • Jerez: €95 (1 hour)

  • Seville: €195 (1.5 hours)

  • Málaga: €255 (2.5 hours)

Transfers are per trip and can be shared with other arriving guests.

Option 3: Fly and rent a car

If you want freedom to explore Andalucia during your stay, flying and renting a car is the best option.

Recommended airports for car hire

  • Jerez (XRY): Europcar, Hertz

  • Seville (SVQ): Avis, Sixt

  • Málaga (AGP): Enterprise, Goldcar

Why rent a car?

  • Perfect for day trips to Cádiz, Vejer or Tarifa

  • Easier to explore smaller beaches and hidden spots nearby

  • Ideal for families or anyone travelling with surf gear

Car hire platforms like doyouspain.com or check24.de offer competitive rates.

Parking

Parking is available near A-Frame opposite the surf camp. You can park here for €35 per week.

There’s also free parking on the street about 150 meters away (next to Restaurant Dolce Vita).

If you’ve booked your accommodation in a town house, you can park directly at the door. The Oasis Surfcamp also has plenty of parking spaces.
