The A-Frame surf camp in Spain is located on the Costa de la Luz, the coast of light in Andalusia. This area is considered one of the warmest and driest coastal regions in Spain. With over 300 days of sunshine a year, you will be spoiled by a mild climate in Andalusia, even in winter. The proximity to Africa and the Moorish heritage give this region a special, oriental flair.

The nature around the A-Frame surf camp in Andalusia is breathtakingly beautiful, the people are friendly and life here is authentic. Instead of mass tourism, you can meet real locals and explore beautiful towns and villages: Stroll through the market in Vejer de la Frontera or enjoy Spanish cuisine in one of the small restaurants there. It is even closer to Conil de la Frontera, where you can discover some sights, cafés, boutiques or the beach.

    The small beach town on the Atlantic coast of southern Spain has its very own pace. There are several cafés, surf stores, restaurants and bars as well as small supermarkets. Untouched by mass tourism, you can enjoy the white sandy beaches, the bright sunshine and, of course, the good waves.

    Conil is only a five-minute drive away from El Palmar, also right by the sea. Conil used to be a fishing village, but has now grown and attracts many tourists. Here you will find many small boutiques (including surf stores), ice cream parlors, tapas bars and restaurants and the best cakes in Andalusia.

    Vejer de la Frontera is the region's landmark, as this typical Andalusian town is perched on a mountain. Many of the buildings and the old fortress walls are of Moorish origin. In culinary terms, Vejer de la Frontera with its top restaurants is a must for all gourmets. In a nationwide survey, Vejer was voted one of the most beautiful Spanish villages. It is only ten minutes by car from El Palmar.

    Cádiz is considered the oldest city in Europe and is only 45 minutes by car from El Palmar. Cádiz is the capital of the province of the same name and is an old seafaring town. It has a harbor, ships, small bars, restaurants, its own beach - everything you would expect from a seafaring town.

    Only fresh, seasonal and regional products are served at the Patria restaurant in Vejer de la Frontera. The restaurant has been run by a Danish couple from Copenhagen for ten years. The dishes are lovingly prepared and the wine tastes excellent.

    El Mirlo is run by a Spanish brother and sister. All guests are warmly welcomed here and the service is really great. The same goes for the food - if you like authentic tapas, this is the place for you.

    Here you can enjoy really delicious Moroccan food. If you like, you can dine romantically under the stars in the restaurant's garden. There is also a tapas bar, which is like the restaurant's little sister. The atmosphere is relaxed and informal and the tapas are really delicious. The view from the terrace is breathtakingly beautiful! The adjoining hotel was even awarded a Michelin star in 2024.

  • Places of interest in Andalusia, Playa de Bolonia
    Playa de Bolonia
    Towards Tarifa is the Playa de Bolonia. It is known for its gigantic sand dunes and plenty of wind - which is why there are always lots of kitesurfers here. On this beach, you can not only soak up the sun, but also hike in the dunes and watch kitesurfers - or try it out for yourself.

    Arco de las Monjas
    The Arco de las Monjas is definitely one of the most popular photo motifs in Vejer de la Frontera. It provides access to the former Jewish quarter of Vejer. The so-called Nuns' Arch belongs to the Convento de las Monjas Concepcionistas and is the remains of a 16th century complex. The Renaissance-style church is located on one of the most beautiful streets in Vejer, Arco de las Monjas.
  • Europe's southernmost point in Tarifa
    Europe's southernmost point in Tarifa
    Tarifa is particularly popular with windsurfers and kitesurfers as there are great spots with plenty of wind all year round. In Tarifa, however, you can also stroll through the alleyways of the old town or browse through the numerous surf stores as a normal visitor. Tarifa is the southernmost point in Europe and only 14 kilometers from Africa as the crow flies. On nice days, you can see the Reef Mountains in Morocco from Tarifa.

    How about a hike with a sea view? At the top of the Calas de Roche cliffs, you can easily walk from cove to cove. The cliffs are located between the port of Conil and the settlement of Roche, where small rocky coves are hidden at the foot of the cliffs. The beaches are accessible via steps.

    Absolutely fantastic time we had here, great beaches, lovely staff, fantastic food, -- no really, the food is among the best I have ever had, day after day -- very lovely guests and super convenient distances to the surfing.

    - Surfing: the whole schedule is centered around the surf times, and for good reason. The staff make sure that the groups always get the best waves of the day, even if that means taking a short drive somewhere else. The equipment is great for learners (I cannot judge the hard tops etc) with clean, relatively new, and fitting wet-suits. In addition to the lessons we can always go for more sessions privately, with access to the equipment.

    - Lessons: The teachers are fantastic, their joy is contagious, they made learning super fun. In addition to great individual feedback there are additional offerings in terms of lectures, e.g. on wave theory. The video analysis also really helps to internalize some additional feedback. But again, the teachers are great!

    - Food: Great food, always accommodating dietary restrictions, and with great variety. Every meal is different to the last, the meals are flexible if you're almost an hour late it's still usually fine, and they make sure you have enough of all the food you could want. Unlimited coffee, tea and fruit is also a great addition. Beer and wine cost extra, but at basically no markup. But once again: best food, fantastic, 6/5.

    - Lodgings: Apartments where you will either be with the group you traveled with, or other guests. Clean, quiet, daily cleaning, everything you really need if you want to retreat during the day, or even cook a meal. WiFi is fast enough to fulfill most use cases.

    - Common areas: allow all levels of socializing, provide fantastic views, promote meeting your fellow surfers.

    - Yoga: I am not a fan of yoga, so I didn't do any, but the ones who did said is was great.

    - Additional services: Photos from your surfing adventures and mishaps are available, massages, additional outings outside of the surf lessons (for example surf-skating) are on offer as well, providing a beautiful well rounded programme for the entire day.

    - Vibes: 10/10, chill, social, down-to-earth, helpful.

    Overall, better holiday than for example a ski trip in November (and I love skiing too). Come here!

    This has already been our second stay at A-Frame and again it was a super relaxed week and overall a holiday that can‘t be much better. We, a family with a toddler, can ony recommend this place to other families who are looking for a relaxed holiday with yoga, surf and amazing food. The people at A-Frame from surf coach to kitchen staff are just super friendly and you feel very much taken care at all times. Thanks so much to the whole team for another great holiday experience. We‘ll be back for sure.

    Pretty much a perfect vacation. I learned to surf, did a lot of yoga, soaked up the beautiful weather, ate delicious food, and met some wonderful people. I don't speak German or Spanish and the staff switched to English to make everything easy for me. El Palmar is a very chill area and from there it's easy to make day trips to Conil, Vejer, and Cádiz.

    Thoroughly enjoyed our stayed at A-Frame. Super friendly and helpful staff. We were always received with a smile and welcoming attitude. Shoutout to the kitchen people who were kind, and did an incredible job of serving tasty, healthy, and varied food that we all loved. We came with three small children and they all had a great time - surf lessons, board games, ping-pong table among other fun activities.

    The house was spacious, well-kept, and clean. Would definitely stay there again if visiting El Palmar in the future.

    One of the best sufcamps I´ve visited so far. Excellent sufcoaches with a great accomodation and catering nearby the beach.
